She was born on Wednesday, July 14, 1920, in Pitman, a daughter of the late Felix and Kate (Snyder) Deitrich.
She was a 1936 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.
Daisy and her late husband had grown produce and delivered it to households throughout the area. She also was a cook for Elsie's Restaurant, Hegins prior to her retirement.
She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins.
Daisy was also a member of the Hegins Fire Company Auxiliary, the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens, and the former Daughters of the American Revolution of Pitman.
Her husband Thomas E Ely passed away in 1984. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Ely and Carl Ely, by twin infant sons; and a brother Leonard Deitrich.
She is survived by three daughters Ruth A Wetzel and her husband Ralph of Hegins, June M Boyer of Towanda, and Mary J Carl and her husband Daniel of Hegins; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters Ruby Zerbe of Madison, WI and Orpha Troutman of Hegins; two brothers Kenneth Deitrich and Kermit Deitrich both of Pitman; and several nieces and nephews.
A viewing was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View and from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins.
Funeral services were held at Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at 2: p.m., with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating.
Burial was made in Jacob's Cemetery, Pitman.
