Janet Poole, age 89, was born in Washington, PA, and passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013.
Janet attended "Chatam Women's College" and earned a bachelor's in biology. Janet worked for the NM Scientific Lab Division and Department of Agriculture Animal Health Laboratory. Jan was the best wife and mother in the world and a wonderful homemaker whose home was always filled with joy and unconditional love! Jan cared for her husband, Charles for thirteen years when he had Alzheimer's disease, who preceded her in death. For the quality and years of caring service she was awarded the "Caregiver of the Year Award" from the Alzheimer's Association. Jan was an active member of La Mesa Presbyterian Church. Jan served as an elder, deacon, choir member, played the organ and taught Sunday school. Jan volunteered for numerous organizations and was always serving someone and taking care of others. Jan loved playing bridge and traveling.
Janet is survived by her three children, Tom Poole and his wife, Patricia, Betsy Kroeker and her husband, Jerry and Robin Smith and her husband, Michelangelo, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sister, Mary Schwartz, sister-in-law, Francis Anderson and 15 nieces and nephews.
Her son, Jeff preceded her in death in 1986.
Friends may visit on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at French – Lomas. Services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at La Mesa Presbyterian Church, 7401 Copper Ave. NE, with Interment immediately following at Santa Fé National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
