NEWPORT - Alene Deal Marney, 88, of Newark died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Batesville.
Born Jan. 6, 1914, at Baxter, she was the daughter of Alfred Barter and Sarah Caroline Merrill Deal. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed arts and crafts, people, quilting, sewing and gardening.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Moore, Barbara Gillmore and Bonnie Jeffrey; a brother, Lee Roy Deal; two sisters, Marie Star and Audie Lowen; 11 grandchildren, Angela Wood, Karen New, John Gillmore, Chris Gillmore, Marney Gillmore, Kim Cole, Kelly Jackson, Carissa Harold, Alana Smith, Rusty Jeffrey and LaSchel Jeffrey; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonom B. Marney; a daughter, Carreta Marney Smith; a brother, Ray Deal; and three sisters, Ethel Prince, Verbal Wood and Lorene Bookout.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church in Newark with Gary Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery with arrangements by Jackson's Newark Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be John Gillmore, Chris Gillmore, Marney Gillmore, Danny Cole, Michael Gillihan and J.D. Gillmore.
