Jim was the 6th of 11 children born to Hans and Agnes Langley Frahm, and one of the 4 boys. He was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on June 1, 1942. He moved with the family to Ottumwa, Iowa when he was about 8 years old. He graduated high in his class from Ottumwa High School in 1960.

He studied biology at the University of Iowa and then went to the Loma Linda Medical School in Loma Linda, California. Dr. Frahm was a well respected family practitioner in the Des Moines, Iowa area for more than 30 years. He served most recently as Medical Director a t the Mercy Beaverdale Clinic in Des Moines.

He is survived by his three children: Bradley Frahm, Heidi Frahm and Katie Leonard. He is also survived by nine siblings: Dr. Paul Frahm, Jeanne Craighead, Carol Masters, Barbara Monasky, Joan Allen, Janet Bowermaster, Dr. John Frahm, Linda Lamont and Mark Frahm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Agnes Frahm, and a sister, Judith Pieritz.

Jim was a revered and trusted leader in the Iowa medical community, and was loved dearly by his family. He is sorely missed.

His ashes are interred in the Ottumwa Cemetery next to his parents.
