Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Tuesday, December 26, 1967:
  William Zika, 76, of 908 Hillsboro Ave., died at 11 a.m. Monday at Helvetia Nursing Home, Highland. He had been a patient three years.
  He was retired in 1955 as a car repairman for the L & M Railroad and prior to that had worked 22 years for Richards Brick Co.
  He was born Aug. 14, 1891 in Glen Carbon, the son of Michael and Josephine Soupa Zika. He was married to Sophia Sedlacek April 22, 1921 at St. Mary's Church parsonage by the late Rev. O'Reilly. Mrs. Zika died Feb. 13, 1962.
  Survivors are one son, Arthur C., Edwardsville; a daughter, Mrs. Edward G. (Dorothy) Dettmer, Route 3; six grandchildren; a brother, Charles of Marine, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Bernasek, Edwardsville. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Edwin, who died in 1951, and another son in infancy; four brothers and one sister.
  He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Car Repairmen, Local 126 of Granite City, and American Legion Post 199 and World War I Barracks 977 of Edwardsville.
  Last rites will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Martin Gibbons at the Lesley Marks Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
  Burial will be in the Buck Road Cemetery.
  Members of the veterans organizations are requested to meet in a body at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
  Visitation is set for after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
