Ruth Elaine Griggs a long time Lincoln resident and known to many as a lady who was always complete and detailed in her attire and her mannerisms passed away on June 6, 2011. She was a third generation Lincolnite. Ruth was born to Barney and Irene Barry March 26, 1921.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack of 62 years, and her brother Wilbur (Bill) Barry.
Ruth was able to travel around the states while Jack was a pilot serving in World War II. They shared many adverturous travels thoughout their 62 years of marriage. Included are Mexico, Hawaii and throughout the Continental United States. She was a secretary in the Lincoln PG&E office for over 40 years. She had a definite passion for family and freinds. She enjoyed the camaraderie wheather it was a coffeee group; get together at church, holiday, a special event or a chat. She will be sorely missed and yet definitely remembered by her brother Wesley Barry of Sacramento (Alberta); nieces and nephews, Sue Carlson of Lincoln (Bob), Margie McKinney of Granite Bay (Chris), Bob Barry of Caldwell, Idaho (Joe), Rick Barry of Granite Bay (Pam), Gregg Palliex of Texas (Linda), Cynthia Washburn of Washington (Bob), Mike McKenzie of Auburn (Sue), Pat McKenzie of Alta (Beverly), Joy dell Herring of Sacramento, and Betty Gould of Esparto. There were several memories shared with her and Jack's self adopted son, Luis Ortiz (Jan) of Lincoln. There are also a vast number of great-nieces and great-nephews as well as great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews that have shared Ruth's life throughout the years. Ruth and her famiy were grateful for her two caregivers/friends, Lidia Hall and Cynthia Semple who spent much time with her.
Services will be held at the Lincoln United Methodist Church, 629 I Street in Lincoln on Monday June 13, 2011. There will be a viewing at 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with a service to start at 12 p.m. There will be a reception following at the church.
Donations may be sent to the Methodist Church in Lincoln or a charity of your choice.
