John grew up in Santa Maria en Capua Vetere in Italy. He came to America in 1955 for a vacation trip with his family while residing in Venezuela. He immediately fell in love with Chicago, and moved to Skokie, Illinois, where he founded Abatron, Inc. in 1959. He later moved his family and the business to Elgin, Illinois where he remained until 1995 when he moved his business to Kenosha in order to support the demands of a thriving business.
John retired in 2008, and in 2011 he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he resided until his final days.
John leaves behind six children, Tony Caporaso of Watsonville, Calif., David Caporaso of Byron, Ill., Daniel Caporaso of Belvidere, Ill. wife Sherry, with three sons, Nikolai, Marcus and Garion, Laura Librande of Snohomish, Wash., husband David, and a son Jonah Andre Caporaso of Winnetka, Calif., wife Sheila, and children Cameron and Rosie, Marco Caporaso of Chicago, Ill.
He will be loved and remembered by his family and friends.
A memorial service was planned in Kenosha.
