Second son and third of seven children of William Boynton and Elizabeth Jackson, who arrived with Reverend Ezekiel Rogers on the ship 'John' of London in 1638 and helped to establish the town of Rowley, Massachusetts. All children were born in Rowley. Zachariah/Zachary's brother, John, (1540-1665) is also presumed buried here.

CITATIONS:
BIRTH: Zachary (Bointon) s. William and Elizabeth. 11: 8 m: 1644
BIRTH SOURCE: MA VITAL RECORDS to the end of 1849, Rowley Vital Records - Births P 49
BURIAL: '1660 - Zachriah Boynton the son of William Boynton buried August the fourth day.' Rowley Burial Ground was the only 17th century cemetery in Rowley. It is assumed that Zachary rests in this cemetery in an unmarked grave. Burial Source: Rowley Vital Records - Essex Institute historical collections (1859-c1993)Author: Essex Institute; Peabody Essex Museum Publisher: Salem, Mass. : Essex Institute Press Vol 5 P 163

In Colonial 'old style,' the 8th month of the year was October, rather than August. We are presuming (perhaps incorrectly) Old Style as his birth date indicator.

Addition of this record based on discussion with relative, FindAGrave member and fellow researcher Bill Boyington.
