Shirley Wright Theobald Peterson
1924 - 2013

Shirley Wright Theobald Peterson passed away May 19, 2013, at home surrounded by family. She was born on July 15, 1924, in Hinckley, Utah, to Walter Edmond and Zola Walker Wright. She was educated in Delta, and later, attended B.A.C in Cedar City, Utah, on scholarship.

She married Milton Verrue Theobald in Delta and later the marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 4, 1947. They were married for 43 years.

They lived in many areas: Provo, Salt Lake City; San Fernando Valley, California; Avon and Geneseo, New York; Payson, Utah and then upon Milton's retirement settled at the Edgewood Condominiums in Provo where they enjoyed the sports and activities at Brigham Young University. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many church positions in each organization: teacher, secretary, dance instructor, Relief Society president, and most recently, as an ordinance worker in the Provo UtahTemple.

After selling real estate, she worked as a volunteer at the Payson Hospital for several years, and was named the "State Volunteer of the Year" in March 1986, as she was instrumental in introducing "The Life Line" programs in the State of Utah. She loved traveling, dancing, gardening, sewing, crocheting and making afghans for children and granddaughters.

After Milton's death in 1990, she married another home-town classmate, Arland J. Peterson, in Provo, Utah, in 1996. They enjoyed traveling with the Good Sam Club.

Shirley is survived by her husband Arland Peterson; son Gary M. Theobald (Debbie) of Payson, Arizona; sons Scott W. Theobald (Jan) and David Theobald of Logan, Utah; daughters Gwen Loveless (Ray) of Payson, Utah; Sharon Henricksen of Provo, Utah; brother Derral Wright (Shirley) of Beaver, Utah; sisters-in-law Helen Wright and JoAnn Wright of Delta, Utah. Shirley is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren, and 38 step-family members.

Funeral services for Shirley will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 11:00am at the Edgemont 12th Ward building located at 2950 North Canyon Road, Provo, Utah. A viewing will held two hours prior to the service. Shirley will be interred at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the missionary or humanitarian funds of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The family would like to thank Hearts for Hospice and Aspen Senior Care for their loving attention to our beloved mother.
