The daughter of Columbus Judson Martin and Alice A. Sanderson, she married George Woodward Downing in Freeport, Kansas, in 1909. They had five children, one dying in infancy. Descendants live in Arizona today, and a quarter section of land in Grant county, Oklahoma, is still owned by this family.
