Jane Voelkel Owens, 62, went to be with the Lord on June 30, 2011. She was born August 18, 1948 in San Antonio , Texas . Jane is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, John R. Owens; her daughter, Amy Owens Thomas, and husband, Martin; her son, Jonathan Owens, and wife, Sarah; her three grandchildren, Alexandra, Madelyn Grace and Caleb Thomas; her brothers, Pat and Carl Voelkel; her mother-in-law, Jack Owens; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Les and Sue Scott, Tom and Patti Owens; her nephews and nieces; and other dear family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.C. and Mary Alice Voelkel and her father-in-law, John L. Owens. Jane spent 25 years of her life teaching young children in public school and in Sunday School. The delight of her life was serving her family and sharing her gift of hospitality with her church family. A worship service honoring Jane will be held at Johnson Street Church of Christ Family Life Center on Saturday, July 2nd at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rust Street Ministries, Meals for the Elderly, or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
