Cleveland "Buddy'' Williamson drowned Monday evening around 5 o'clock in Coats Creek. According to Marshall Paul Kennedy, Mrs. Robert Westmoreland, who was swimming in Coats at the time, went for help after she had seen him go down for the second time. Marshall Kennedy and other officers arrived and, after John Howard Barnard had brought Williamson to the top, began administering artificial respiration. They continued to apply respiration until members of the Magee Volunteer Fire Department arrived and started using the respirator, which they continued doing for about 20 minutes but to no avail. After having stayed in the water around an hour and a half, Williamson could not be restored. He was found about six feet from the bank.

His survivors include his wife Mrs. Ruby Williamson, his mother, Mrs. Kate Williamson, and one brother, Girden Williamson, of Magee.

Services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in the Mims Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C. M. Grayson officiating. Interment was in the Sharon Presbyterian Church.
