Lieut. Abram Carrington was born and raised on Ridgeway Plantation, Charlotte County, Virginia. He was the son of Paul Sydenham Carrington and Emma Catherine Cabell Carrington. He was killed near Richmond June 30, 1862 in the Battle of Frasier's Farm. He married Anne "Nannie" Cabell Carrington July 7, 1852. She was the daughter of Clement Read and Anne Mayo Watkins. Nannie and Abram had five children: William Cabell Carrington, Clement Read Carrington, Paul Sidney Carrington, Alexander Broadnax Carrington, Annie Lee Carrington.

Cabell family records state that Abram Cabell Carrington was originally buried at his family home, "Ridgeway Plantation" but later was moved to Farmville, Prince Edward County, Virginia. This was possibly done after the death of his wife, Nannie in 1893. They are buried together in Westview Cemetery.
