Thomas J. Hughes, a well known resident of Richhill township, died unexpectedly, Monday morning, June 1, of paralysis of the heart. Mr. Hughes was digging post holes near his home and had dug one hole and was starting another when he was stricken. Someone passing along the road found him lying on the ground, but he had expired. He had not been in the best of health recently, but his death came unexpectedly and was a great shock to his family. Mr. Hughes was a son of George and Caroline McVay Hughes, deceased. He was a successful farmer and stock raiser. Besides his wife, Mrs. Lida Lewis Hughes, he is survived by two daughters. Mrs. Mary Staggers, at home, and Mrs. Ollie Meighan of West Alexander; also three brothers, Luther, Shirley and Harry Hughes, all of Cameron, W. Va., and one half-brother, Frank Hughes, of Hundred, W. Va. The funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Pierce, of Cameron, W. Va. Interment in Sugar Grove cemetery.
