Mrs. Ayers had been a correspondent for the Democrat from the Story community. She was a custodian and cook at Van Buren Elementary School and a member of the Church of Christ in Columbus.
She was born january 19, 1916, in Brown County to James and Mary E. Morrison Hamblen.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Ayers of Columbus, John Ayers of Germany and Mike Ayers of Indianapolis; seven daughters, Betty Shaw of Flat Rock, Maxine Melton of Franklin, Ruth Good of indianapolis, Linda Purdy of Phoenix, Arizona, janet Falte of Bradenton, Florida, Edna Thomas of Greenfield and Helen Gregg on Virginia Beach, Virginia; five brothers, Donald Hamblen of Lanesville, Raymond Hamblen of Austin andJesse hamblen, Plessie hamblen and John Hamblen, all of Columbus; two sisters, Flora Ott of courtland and Wanda Wilson of Indianapolis; 33 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland ayers, who died in 1968; by a daughter, Mary Louise Weihoff; and a son, Garland Ayers Jr.
The Reverend Roger Shouse conducted a service Monday at the Bond-Mitchell Serenity Chapel on State Road 135 North. Burial was in Mout Zion Cemetery.
