Last rites for Orlando Achenbach, 83, were held January 27 at the Cedar Bluff Union church with the Rev. Dean Swartzendruber officiating. Burial was in Lisbon cemetery.
Pallbearers were Harold, Andrew, Arden, Earl and Leland Achenbach and Gerald Stout. Mrs. Richard Palmer was vocalist and Mrs. Hobart Yoder pianist. Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Krouth were in charge of flowers.
Mr. Achenbach died January 25 at University hospital, Iowa City, after a lingering illness.
He was born December 31, 1882 at Cedar Bluff, the son of Louis and Elizabeth Zerbe Achenbach and he spent his life in that area, working as a farm laborer.
He is survived by a son, Lloyd, Shellsburg, 2 brothers, Isaac, Cedar Bluff and Abner, Anamosa, 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
