Obit from Carney, Okla. newspaper; Death of Moses McElwain
"Moses McElwain of Gayville,(S.D.)who has been residing the past year at Mrs. DeCamp's on Douglas Avenue, died after a short illness at 6:20 A.M. Sunday, aged 78 years..
The deceased contracted a severe cold recently and complications resulted in death, the age of the patient being much against recovery from the start. Moses McElwain has been a widely known farmer of the Gayville part of the country since April 1,1883, when he came here from Jackson County, Iowa. Ever since he has resided on the farm he bought at that time and where his family was raised. Mr. McElwain was much respected and old friends will hear of his sudden death with feelings of sincere regret.
Mrs. McElwain died three years ago and the children surviving are George and Will of this city, James of Garrison, N.D., Mrs. Mary Munds of Carney, OK., Mrs. J.P. Conklin and Mrs. Tom Conklin of Gayville, all of whom are now here, and Mrs. Margaret Alexander, residing in Sunnyside, Wash., and who is expected today.
The remains left here today for the home of Peter J. Conklin, from which place the funeral will be held at 1 o'clock tomorrow, Rev. Elberhart of Gayville officiating.
Interment will be in Mission Hill cemetery."----Yankton (S.dak.) Press and Dakotan.
