DONALD DARRINGTON, 66, FORMER POTLATCH WORKER

Donald R. Darrington, a former Potlatch Corp. employee, died of a heart attack Sunday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center at Lewiston. He was 66.

He worked for Potlatch Corp. at Lewiston for 30 years before moving to Spokane in 1985. He and his wife, Bernice, returned to Lewiston in November 1993.

He was born May 10, 1927, at Elk Point, Alberta, Canada, to Will and Nellie Earl Darrington.

He married Bernice Bourland Sept. 21, 1946, at Ortonville, Minn., and farmed in South Dakota until 1954.

In 1955, they moved to Lewiston and he worked in maintenance for Potlatch until 1985, when they moved to Spokane. While there, he managed commercial aquariums for Aquatic World and Pets.

He was a member of the Southern Baptist faith since 1956 and enjoyed teaching Sunday school at Orchards Baptist Church at Lewiston. He also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, fishing, spending time with his family, and poetry.

Survivors include his wife of Lewiston; seven daughters, Peggy Laurance of Georgetown, Guyana, South America, April DeBord of Clarkston, June Smith and Susan-Anne Liedkie, both of Lewiston, Anita Hooper of Bellevue, Wash., Yvonne Darrington of Spokane and Kathleen Eppinger of Kirkland, Wash.; two brothers, Robert Darrington of Eltopia, Wash., and James Darrington of Troy, Idaho; a sister, Edith Nielson of Wilmot, S.D., 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from noon to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel at Lewiston.

His graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens at Lewiston. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Tammany View Baptist Church at Lewiston. The Rev. W.C. Carpenter of Tammany View will officiate.
