Funeral for Aaron Griggs Rose, 72, of Athens were held Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Salem Springs Baptist Church with Brother Kevin Ward and Brother Jack Bailey officiating.

Mr. Rose passed away Thursday May 16, 2013, at Athens-Limestone County Hospital. He was born August 1, 1940, in Athens to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence K. Rose. Mr. Rose grew up in Athens where he participated in the Athens High School band, marching with his treasured trombone. He enjoyed his days cruising the Hi-Boy and Hatfield skating rink, where he met his bride, Joyce Marbut. Griggs loved to tell stories of seeing Joyce at Florence State and assisting her in her early days of school teaching by chaperoning school trips and banquets. Lately they have still enjoyed warm memories of reunions at Elkmont and West Limestone. Griggs retired from Delphi and spoke often of the co-workers he grew to love. Griggs looked forward to the door prizes and BBQ each summer at the company picnic. Mr. Rose was a devoted father to his daughter, Page, and her husband, Brad Benson. He was a Godly influence to guide them in to how to run a home where all glory belongs to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. August Pearl was his most recent investment where he selflessly spent hours playing beauty shop and ball. He loved to take August Pearl to check cows. Mr. Rose will leave a heavy heart at Salem Springs Baptist Church where he served as an active deacon and former music leader.

He was preceded in death by his brother, George Rose; sisters, Mildred Rose Collier and Margie Rose Looney.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce Marbut Rose; one daughter, Page Benson and husband, Brad; two sisters Gloria Smith(Lowell) and June Street (Oliver); one grandchild, August Pearl Benson.

Pallbearers were Johnny Campbell, Andy Collier, Dickie Jackson, David Blankenship, Jackie Greenhaw, Lyndon Marbut, Elmer Jackson and Clint Jackson.
