JOHN AMBERMAN, JR.
DELHI......John Bedell Amberman, Jr., 85 of Roaring Brook Road, Delhi, passed away peacefully Sunday morning March 23, 1997 at his residence. He was born July 15, 1911 in Springfield Gardens. John was the son of the late John B. and Corabel Baldwin Amberman, Sr. On June 20, 1936 he married Ruth Foster in Springfield Gardens.
Mr Amberman was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving our country during WWII.
For several years, John was employed in the heavy road construction business in the Long Island area. He retired on March 1, 1974 and moved to Delhi. He was a 50-year member of the Laborer's International Union of North America and a member of the United Methodist Church, Baldwin.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth M. Amberman of Delhi; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Allen Greene of Delhi; a son, John B. Amberman III of Clifton Park; two sisters, Marjorie Amberman and Miriam Sturm of Floral Park; four granddaughters, Jennifer S. and Beth M. Greene of Delhi and Jessica and Melissa Amberman of Middleburg.
Funeral and commital services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 1997 from the Hall and Peet Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi with the Rev. Mark H. Chatterton, pastor of the United Ministry of Delhi, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday evening, March 25, 1977. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in his name may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main Street, Oneonta, NY 13820.
Arrangements are under the direction of James A. Barnhart and Scott D. Hamilton, Sidney.
