"East Branch, July 9 - One of the largest attended funerals in this place for years was that of Frank Nichols, which took place at the family home on Tuesday afternoon, July 6. The deceased had been in poor health for some time and was taken suddenly worse, dying the morning of July 3. He leaves a mother, Mrs Julia Nichols, a wife, formerly Nettie Hellyer, one daughter, Espa and a son, Von, besides many near relatives, to mourn his demise. The entire community sympathizes with them in their affliction. Mr Nichols was in his forty-second year. He belonged to the IOOF lodge of Grand Valley, the members of which attended the funeral in a body and whose burial rites were observed in a most impressive manner. Rev McIntyre of Grand Valley preached a very helpful and tender sermon. The burial was in the East Branch cemetery."
