INWOOD, Iowa--Jacob John Porter, 100, of Rock Valley, formerly of Inwood, died Tuesday, July 4, 1989, at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Reformed Church of Inwood, Iowa, with the Rev. Don White and Rev. Raymond Denekas officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery in Inwood. Visitation with the family present will be from 7:30 -8:30 p.m. Friday at Porter Funeral Home in Inwood.

Mr. Porter was born Aug. 15, 1888 in The Netherlands. He came to the Michigan and Illinois areas when he was a year old. He married Josephine Dora Heemstra Jan. 3, 1912 at Monroe, S.D. Together they farmed in the LeMars area until moving to the rural Inwood area in 1930, where they continued to farm until retirement in 1945. In 1978, he moved to Valley Manor in Rock Valley. Mrs. Porter died Feb. 16, 1983.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church, past board member of the Farmers Home Administration, and for many years was assessor for the Richland Township and caretaker of the Richland Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, John of Rock Rapids and Stanley of Inwood; three daughters, Mrs. Wilson (Rose) Duven of Pella, Mrs. Herman (Dorothy) Moen of Inwood and Mrs. Donald (Alice) Clark of Alma, Kan.; 20 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
