Of their union were born: Charles Vassar; Willie Vassar; and Elizabeth J. "Lizzie" Vassar (March 1876, Sonoma County, California - before 1930, Cloverdale, Sonoma County, California). James passed on to his maker at 73 years of age.
The siblings of James were: Mary Polly Vassar (1833, Plattsburg, Clinton, Missouri - ); Samuel Vassar; Rebecca Vassar (1836, Plattsburg, Clinton County, Missouri - ); James Brown Vassar; Nicholas Simpson Vassar; William Jasper Vassar; Jarratt McCracken Vassar; Andrew Jackson Vassar; and Ritty Ann Vassar (1856, California - ). The family moved to the City of Sonoma, California then Marin County, before the Civil War, and north to Healdsburg, Sanel (Hopland), and Cloverdale by the 1860's.
