Joseph Lusardi, 58, Found Dead At Home.

Joseph Lusardi, 58, of 1 East Grand Street, Hampton, was found dead in the basement of his home at 6:30 p.m. yesterday.

Dr Louis Doyle, of Flemington, acting Hunterdon County physician, listed the death as a suicide by hanging.

Mr. Lusardi operated a confectionery and stationery store in Hampton for 22 years, before selling it about two years ago. He had been in ill health for about two years.

He was discovered by the victim's daughter Mrs. Angelina Fenwick, 20, who lives at the same address. She summoned a neighbor who called the Hampton Rescue Squad and notified State Police at the Clinton station.

Dr Charles Potter, of Washington, pronounced Mr. Lusardi dead.

Mr. Lusardi had been despondent for some time, state police said. Conducting the investigation were Detective Sergeant Norton Euart, and Troopers Richard Martin and Richard Unger.

Doctor Doyle authorized removal of the body to the Zimmerman Funeral Home, Hampton.

He was born in Italy and came to United States when he was a young man. He made several trips back to his home land. His wife Mary died in 1945.

Mr Lusardi was a member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church, Hampton.

Surviving, in addition to his daughter, are two sons, Italo station in New Mexico with the US Air Force, and Louis at home, a brother Harry, Italy, in a sister Mrs. Lena Berito, also in Italy.

A solemn high mass will be celebrated in St Ann's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Thursday. The funeral will be conducted from the Zimmerman Funeral Home, Hampton at 9:30 a.m.
