Iola M. LaFond, age 87, a resident at Fieldcrest Manor, Manitowoc for the past 10 years, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at her residence.
Iola was born on January 26, 1926 in Two Rivers, WI. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Emma (Delaruelle) Evrard. Iola was a graduate of Two Rivers Washington High School. In February of 1948 she married George A. Huebner of Manitowoc, who passed away in December of 1981; Iola married Roland F. LaFond in September of 1982. He also preceded her in death on November 24, 2000. Iola liked the outdoors and fishing. She always had a garden and canned a lot of her overflow. A great cook, she made wonderful German dinners which will be greatly missed as well as the best Christmas cookies which she decorated with love. Iola loved to read mystery novels and hooked rugs in the winter. She will be greatly missed.
She leaves behind a daughter: Karen J. Caramelli of West Hartland, CT; a son and his wife: Jeffrey E. Huebner and Elizabeth of Westminster, CO; a step-son and his wife: Ronald LaFond and Deborah and family; and a sister: Verna Kreisa. Many neices and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 13, 2013 (TODAY) at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen. Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc and Iola will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM on Monday, May 13, 2013 (TODAY).
