Barbara Ann Evrard, eight-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Evrard of Two Rivers, drowned late Tuesday afternoon in the East Twin River there, only a short distance from the home.

Her body was pulled from the river in four feet of water by her father, who joined with the tot's sister, Germaine, 17, in artificial respiration, until coast guardsmen and firemen reached the scene. Efforts to revive the girl failed.

With the Evrard girl when she toppled into the river was tiny Donnie Strohm, aged 3, who ran crying into the Evrard home, to tell that "Barbara fell into the water." The father ran to the river at the foot of 20th street and south along the bank when he saw his daughter's body floating near the dock. He reached out to draw the girl to the dock.

Mrs. Evrard said her daughter had been playing about a swing in the yard only a few minutes before.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the St. Luke Catholic church, Two Rivers, with burial in Holy Cross cemetery. The body may be viewed at the Klein and Stangel Inc. funeral home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Thursday.

Survivors are the parents; four brothers, Harold, a student at St. Norberts college, DePere, Vernon, Joseph and Gary at home, five sisters, Mrs. Claude Kreisa, Rita, Germaine and Joan of Two Rivers, and Mrs. George Huebner of Kansas City; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Evrard and Mrs. Mary Delaurelle of Luxemburg.
