NICHOLAS ZIMMER, farmer Section 20 PO St Clair, was a native of Germany and was born in PRUSSIA on November 5, 1834. He emigrated with his parents to this country in 1853. They came to St. Clair Co. the same year and settled in St. Clair where they cleared the land and made their farm. Nicholas went up to Lake Superior and was in the copper mines 2 years, then returned and went in saw mill and was engaged in lumbering until 1865. Then came on his farm and resided there & owned a good farm of 120 acres. He has held the offices of Town Treasurer 3 years and Highway Commissioner. He married Miss Margaret Kessler January 17, 1863 who was born in Prussia. They have 7 children: Matthias, Barbara, Joseph, John, Charles, Regina, Peter.
