RITES SATURDAY FOR WM. HILLER RETIRED CHICAGO MASSEUR

William E. Hiller,83,of Ramsey, died at 8:30 a.m.Thursday, May 7 at Pana Community Hospital where he had been a patient the past nine weeks. He was born July 17,1886 in Madison Co., a son of George G Hiller(Germany)and Louisa Maurer(Illinois). On June 1,1913 he was married to Zadie S. Sharp, and she survives. They lived in Chicago a number of years where he was a masseur. Upon his retiement 14 years ago they purchased a home in Ramsey and moved here. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church where he served as financial secretary for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Ramsey Lions Club. He had been secretary-treasurer of the Ramsey Cemetery board.
Surviving besides his wife Zadie of Ramsey is a daughter Mrs. Ruth Alderson;granddaughter,Mrs. Carol Gerlosky,and great-granddaughter Nancy Ruth Gerlosky, all of Blue Island, Il., brothers Robert of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Albert of Alhambra,Il.;sister Mrs. Elmer Lane of Edwardsville, Il.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer Fenton, officiating. Mrs. Mark Miller, organist, and Robert Mueller, vocalist. Burial was made in Ramsey Cemetery. Masonic rites were held at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with William Blackerby, Herrik, serving at E.M.,assisted by Otto Lehr, Ramsey.

William shows up in the 1910 census (April 23) and a lodger in the Grissom household. Occupation is an agent for a steam RR depot. 1920 census shows he is married with one child that was born in Nebraska abt 1914, occupation is a cashier at Standard Oil co. 1930 has taken the family to Lexington, Ky., occupation is hard to read, working for a drug co.1935- 1940 census shows the family living in Chicago,Cook co. Il with daughter Ruth & Otto Tork living with William and Zadie and granddaughter Nancy Ruth Tork.
