William Willmore, son of Robert Willmore and Mary Lindley, was born in Lincolnshire England. His parents immigrated to Dover Township, Kent County, Canada West (now Ontario) in 1846 where they farmed. In addition to William, his parents brought with them two other children, Emma and Robert George, and had two others, Hannah and Charles in Canada.

William married Emily Cornhill of Toronto (1847 - 1934) and they had twelve children, Albert A, Emily Olive, Mary Louise, William Edward, Alice, Harriett, Hester B,Sarah Ellen, Herman Henry, Ada May, Amos James and Sidney Earl.
