Lewis Grant May

Ogden – Lewis Grant May, 69, passed away on May 10, 2013. He was born June 8, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Millard Lewis and Betty Burdette May. Lew graduated from Ben Lomond High, Weber State College and was very proud of his Master's Degree in Music Education from the Univ. of Michigan under the direction of Dr. Ravelli.

He married Carol Ann Everts in 1967; they had 2 daughters and later divorced. He married Judy Macfarlane May 20, 2000 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

As a member of the LDS Church, Lew served as secretary to the High Priest Group and as Choir Director.

Lew taught at T.H. Bell Junior High as a band teacher for 22 years. During those years he influenced the lives of thousands of students. He played in and directed the Weber State Alumni Band, Riverdale Community Band and the Mt. Ogden Brass.

Lew lived life to the fullest enjoying many outdoor activities. He was a ski instructor at Snow Basin. He loved camping, fishing, boating, biking, river rafting and golfing with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; 2 daughters, Mishy (Ron) Kirby of Taylor, Marci May of So. Ogden; 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A viewing will be held on Monday, May 13th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
