This following information is from Mrs. Ruth HEASLEY (deceased of Franklin, Westmoreland Co, PA):
"Peter Fair, b. abt 1760 in Berks Co, Pennsylvania; m. abt 1796 Susanna Heisley, daughter of Heinrich Sr. Heisley & Mrs. Maria Barbara Heisley in Hempfield Twsp, Westmoreland Co, Pennsylvania. Peter & Susanna moved to Sugarcreek Twsp (later Washington Twsp), Armstrong Co, Pennsylvania.
Washington Township, struck off from Sugarcreek Township in 1858.
The early settlers in this township were Lutherans to whom Rev. Gabriel A. Raichert occasionally preached in private homes, barns, and groves. In Feb 1824 he organized the Limestone Evangeligal Lutheran Church of which John Christman and Michael Fair were first elders. They and their wives, Peter & Susanna Fair and others were t the first members. The name of the church was changed to St. Marks in 1855.
The surname Fair was apparently Faehr in German.
