By the 1900 census he was found living farming rented land in Justice Precinct 5, McLennan, Texas. Living in the household was Gabe's sister, Sarah Spitzer.
By 1910 Gabe had moved his family back to Tennessee, this time he located in Civil District 6, Hamilton, Tennessee, where he purchased and paid for a farm. His daughter, Martha was teaching teaching in a public school. In the household was living his nephew,Elmon C Spitser.
July 1, 1915 was a sad day for Gabe and Martha. Their daughter, Martha died for appendicitis. A burial plot was selected for her at the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tennessee. They gathered at her grave on July 2, to bid their beloved Martha to "Rest in Peace."
Gabe and Martha were living in a rented house in 1920. His own children had left home and a niece, Pearl Spitzer was living with them.
In 1925 Gabe was saddened by the death of his beloved wife, Martha. He selected a two burial sites side by side for her and later for him in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
