Notes for Bryan Young Owsley:
In 1841, Bryan Owsley requested commissioners be appointed to settle the account of his guardian and uncle, Henry Owsley. The commissioners found nothing left (Lincoln Co. Wills, N: 243). In a letter written on 8 Jan 1854 by his brother William to their brother Samuel in California, William writes "Brother Byan [sic] departed this life about one week ago having lingered under severe affliction in his lungs for six weeks." He also notes the death of a child of Bryan previously unrecorded-- "His youngest son named Samuel died of the same complaint about three weeks before he did." Bryan Y. Owsley was buried in Fillmore Cemetery, Andrew County. On 11 Jan 1854, John H. Owsley was appointed administrator of his estate (Andrew Co. Bonds, A2: 149). His wife, Caroline, was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Purnell) Gresham. She was named as Caroline Owsley in the division of her father's estate (Lincoln Co. Wills, Y: 473). On 24 March 1858, in Andrew County, Caroline Owsley married 2ndly, William Hix, and was living in Andrew County in 1860. Hix died 29 Nov 1864 and was buried in Fillmore Cemetery. In 1873, she married 3rdly, Daniel Brock, and was again widowed by 1880 when she was living in Lawrence County, Dakota Territory as Caroline Brock, widow, with her son Joseph.
