Daughter of Robert FitzWalter and Devorguille de Burgh, granddaughter of Sir Walter FitzRobert and Ida Longespee, Sir John de Burgh and and Cecily de Balliol. Christian adopted her mother's maiden name.

She married Sir William Marshall of Hingham, Norfolk, Baron of Hockering, hereditary Marshal of Ireland, son and heir of Sir John Marshal and Hawise de Say, daughter of Geoffrey. They had one son and two daughters; John, Denise and Hawise.

Sir William was slain at Bannockburn 24 June 1314, and Christian became a nun at Holywell Priory, dying before 06 Dec 1315, her burial date.
