Spanish Fork Treasurer Dies at 55
SPANISH FORK – Fred Morgan Boyack, 55, died Thursday in the Payson City Hospital of a heart attack. He had been Spanish Fork city recorder and was city treasurer at the time of his death.
He was born in Spanish Fork on May 8,1917 to Ralph B. and Sarah Elizabeth Morgan Boyack. He married Louise Faux on Nov. 2,1938 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mr. Boyack was educated in Spanish Fork schools and graduated from Spanish Fork High. He later took correspondence courses in business and special classes at the Utah State University in Logan.
He was a lifetime member of the LDS Church and held several church offices. He served in the quorum presidencies of the Deacons, Teachers and Priests Quorums of his ward. He was a Junior Sunday School superintendent of the old Palmyra Stake, Sunday School superintendent of the First Ward and the first stake Sunday School superintendent of the Spanish Fork Stake. He served as the senior president of the Seven Presidents of Seventy, stake mission president, and general secretary of the Aaronic Priesthood in the LDS First Ward. He taught the Priesthood advancement seminar in the Fifth Ward and served as a home teacher also.
Mr. Boyack worked in Spanish Fork city government for the past 23 years. He was employed for 12 years as Spanish Fork City recorder and then for 11 years city treasurer and purchasing agent. He also worked for the Christensen chain stores. He also worked for the Reconstruction Finance Corp. during the construction of Geneva Steel. He was credit manager for Jex Lumber Company and credit manager for Provo Steel and Supply Co. in Provo.
Surviving him are his widow, Spanish Fork; one son and two daughters, Terrel Fred Boyack, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in King Salmon; Al Miriam Boyack Johnston, Prairie Village, Kan.; Julene Boyack, San Rafael, Calif.; three grandchildren; one brother and four sisters, Ralph Edwin Boyack, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Earl (Thelma) Brunt, Mrs. Clyde (Blanche) Nixon, Mrs. Jake (Jeanne) Kirchofner, Idaho Falls, Ida., Mrs. Earl (Dorthella) Brandon, Las Vegas, Nev.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Spanish Fork First Ward of the LDS Church. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Spanish Fork on Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday before services, Burial will be in the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
