Joanne was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a retired Kindergarten teacher with the Decatur School System. For many years, Joanne also enjoyed teaching young children in Sunday School. Joanne had a talent for playing the piano.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Abarr and her parents.
Joanne is survived by two daughters; Carol Pielemeier and her husband, Jerry of Kirkland, Washington and Cheryl Grass and her husband, Larry of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren; Christina (Bradley) Harlan, Charity (Michael) Lloyd, Elizabeth Christensen, and David Christensen; one great-grandson, Jonathan Rushing; and several friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Heber Springs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with interment in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens.
