Mrs. Deborah Ragland Ramsey, 46, of 330 Brevard St., Apartment D, Statesville, died at Iredell Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, November 23, 2004.

She was born in Brooklyn NY, on December 16. 1957, and was the daughter of Emma Gill Ragland and the late John Patrick Ragland. She was married to Thomas Adrain Ramsey, who survives. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John Henry & Maggie Gill, Jr. and paternal grandparents, Govan & Flora Ragland.

She was educated in the New York School System and graduated from Boys & Girls High School. Prior to her death she was employed as a waitress at Golden Coral.

In addition to her mother, Emma Gill Ragland of Brooklyn, NY, survivors include five sons, Dant’e Ragland, Sephon James, Marqis Ragland, Thomas Ramsey II, all of Statesville and Kendal (Tokishia) Ragland of Carrboro; three brothers, Frederick (Aminah) Ragland of Hampton, VA, Darnell (Patricia) Ragland of Woodbridge, NJ and John Ragland of Statesville; a sister, Brenda Lee Ragland of Brooklyn, NY; two grandchildren, Dant’e Carruth of Troutman and Kendal Ragland II, of Carrboro; her father-in-law, Nathaniel Ramsey of Troutman; her mother-in-law, Alma Norman Ramsey of Statesville; four aunts, Gracie Clack and Maria Cox both of Raleigh, Mary Nutchinson of Brooklyn, NY and Florine Ragland of New Jersey; an uncle, Rufus Ragland of Philadelphia, Pa; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2004, at The Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel, Rutledge & Bigham Funeral Home. Bishop Ralph Woods will officiate and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.

The body will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home where members of the family will receive friends at the funeral home one half hour prior to the funeral, from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
