He was born in Rockport, son of the late E. L. and Rae Anderson Burkhart. He had resided in McConnelsville for the past 30 years where he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and was retired from the Pennwood Lumber Co. after 22 years service.
He is survived by three sons, George Jr., and Jerry of McConnelsville, O., and Raymond of Monterey, Calif.; four daughters, Betty Wise, Mary Matheny, and Margaret Abel of McConnelsville, O., and Joan Burkhart, at home; three stepchildren, Thomas, Amos and Mrs. Mabel Miller of Glide, Douglas county, Ore., and Mrs. Ruby Lawson of Nicholasville, Ky.; four brothers, Bernard C, and Ira M. of Parkersburg, Oren and Charles of LeGrand, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Sawyer and Mrs. Reda Teft of Parkersburg, Mrs. Vada Hillard of Beaver, Pa., and Mrs. Roberta Davis of Green Lawn, N.Y.; a step sister, Mrs. Freda Smith of Mineral Wells; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home with burial in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
