Janet Helen Tannahill was the daughter of James R. Tannahill and Elizabeth Watson. She was the third of five girls; Elizabeth Margaret, Joan Christina, Mary Jane Rebekah and Susan Jane Pearl . She also had three brothers; William Robert, James Alexander and Archibald Wallace. She married Charles Allen Gavin on June 29, 1899 in Athelstan, Huintingdon, Quebec. To this union was born a little girl, Janet Mary.
