According to the 1900, Independence Street, Pittsburgh census the Balbos hab been married for twenty-one years and were both born in 1855 in Italy. Angela’s mother, named as Francis Saccoa (sic) was living with them in 199 and 1910 but her immigration record has not been discovered. There is also no trace of Angela’s immigration record but an 1881 record for an Angelo Balbo, about the correct age, was found at castlegarden.org with only minimal information. Angelo's town of origin was Piaggine Soprane, Province of Salerno. His Balbo ancestors came from Bosco, a village of San Giovanni a Piro, Province of Salerno.

Angelo was naturalized in 1890 according to the Heinz Library index cards, no documents exist. Birth is from 1900 census – June 1855, immigration 1880 or 1881.
