Wilma "Billie" Hessman,91, died Sat.Mar.10,2007 at Manor of the Plains, Dodge City,KS.
She was born Aug.26,1915 in rural Hodgeman county,Ks. northeast of Spearville to William H. and Clara Mary(Benish) Tenbrink. She attended grade school at old #4 Public School in Hodgeman county and High School at St.Mary of the Plains Academy in Dodge City. She received a Normal Training Certificate and taught elementary grades in Ford and Gray county and Cimarron.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Daughters of Isabella, Dominican Associates, Howell Extension and Old Timers Club all of Dodge City. She was also a volunteer game organizer at Manor of the Plains for pitch, Skip Bo, Scrabble and Mexican Train Dominoes.
On Jan. 27,1949 she married Thomas A."Tony" Hessman at Dodge City,KS. He preceded her in death on July 19,1984.
Survivors are her son, Steve(Becky) of Dodge City; daughters, L'Jean(Mike)Dixon of Kinsley,KS and Sue(Richard)Gier of Dodge City,Ks.;sister Esther Mary Bogner of Dodge City; sister-in-law, Betty Tenbrink of Stillwater, Ok and 8 grandchildren: Crystal Hessman,Lori Dixon Childress and husband, Garrett, Sister Gemma Marie (Michelle)Dixon, Rhonda Dixon,Matt Dixon, Stacey"Gier" Halbgewachs and husband, Jon, Jason Gier and fiance, Kayleigh Kaufman, Joe Gier and wife Amber; 6 great grandchildren: Brett,Colton,Amelia Childress, Allie and Corbin Gier, Anthony Halgewachs.
She was preceded in death by her brother Everett"Bud" Tenbrink, sister Virginia Tracy; 2 grandsons, Tom Gier and John Dixon.
