Mary Elisabeth Cox Tucker, resident of Memphis, formerly of the Lambert Community in Fayette County and Memphis area paralegal departed this life Sunday morning, April 7, 2013 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for one month. She was 51 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Services of Remembrance for Miss Tucker were conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, April 11th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Jason Moore of the Oakland First Baptist Church officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Carl Doyle of Oakland. Interment followed in the Oakland City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Miss Tucker was born November 27, 1961 in Memphis, the daughter of Charles F. Cox and the former Dorothy Skelton. She received her education in the Fayette County Private School System, grew up in the Lambert Community of Fayette County and lived in the Bartlett area for most of her life. She was a member of the Oakland First Baptist Church and was employed as a paralegal for Memphis area law firms.

Miss Tucker enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and needlepointing. She received much pleasure in playing the piano and was a former pianist for the Oakland First Baptist Church. She will be remembered for the love she had for her family, especially her grandchildren.

Miss Tucker is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Parker Peel (Scotty) of Memphis, Elisabeth Paige Tucker of Memphis; her son, Houston Ellis Tucker of Memphis; her mother, Dorothy S. Cox of Oakland; her father, Charles F. Cox of Oakland; her sister, Kimberly Cox-Krosp of Oakland; her brother Charles Randal Cox of Oakland; and five grandchildren, Scotty, Jr., Abbigail, Kathryn, Aaron and Addysyn.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Houston Ellis Tucker, Keith Cox, Clint Cox, Matthew Krosp, Scotty Peel, Sr., Christopher Munn, Kevin Rieck, Terry Smith and Ronnie Smith.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, c/o Linda Taylor, 16845 Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068 or the Shelby County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 718 Union Avenue, Memphis, TN 38103.
