Bryce Kelly Chavers, age 16, died at his home in Gillette, on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005.
Bryce was born on Sept. 30, 1989, the son of Bobby Ray Chavers and Tammy Kaye Porter, in Sheridan. The family moved to Gillette and then to Grand Junction, Colo., when he was 5. Then the family moved back to Gillette when he was 10 years old. He was attending Twin Spruce Junior High in Gillette and worked at Camelanes. Bryce loved tigers, bowling (he bowled on two leagues), tinkering with things to find out how they worked, inventing things, spending time with his brother and tormenting him, playing with his baby brother to make him "tough," fishing, camping, riding in his dad's 18-wheeler and Harry Potter. His ambitions were to be a tattoo artist, go into the service, drive truck and be a pilot.
Bryce was survived by his mother, Tammy Porter of Gillette; father, Bobby Chavers of Pensacola, Fla.; three brothers, Bubba Proffit and Jacob Hochhalter of Gillette, Colton Chavers of Pensacola; sister Angela; paternal grandfather, Ray Chavers of Pensacola; paternal grandmother, Helen Hadley of Pensacola; maternal grandmother, Janet Porter of Sundance; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather James Porter.
**BRYCE IS THE INNOCENT VICTIM OF A HOMICIDE**
Days before he was expected to testify against his mother's ex-husband in a sex-abuse case — Bryce was found dead in his bedroom, a single gunshot wound to the head.
"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go now to prepare a place for you. So that where I am, you may also be"
John 14:2-3
