JOHNNIE JUNIOR PATTERSON, age 78, of Mount Gilead, passed away on Thursday morning, May 2, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 27, 1934, in Blue Ridge, Georgia, Johnnie was the son of the late William R. and Lou Vada (Watkins) Patterson.

Johnnie was a quiet, simple man who enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, spending time with his children and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved traveling to The Great Smokey Mountains and driving the trails of Cades cove, hunting, fishing and long walks thru the beautiful mountains of Blue Ridge Georgia.

He was known as a man who would do anything for his family and will be remembered by his children with love as an unselfish, giving father with a wonderful sense of humor.

Johnnie will be dearly missed by his daughter, Vickie (Kurt) Rykwalder of Mount Gilead; four sons: William (Barbara) Patterson of Corinth, Texas, David (Linda) Patterson of Mount Gilead, Gary (Pamela) Patterson of Cardington, Timothy Patterson of Cardington, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; two brothers: James Patterson and Luis (Mary) Patterson both of Blue Ridge, Georgia; four sisters: Edith (Harley) Norton of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Shirley (Jerry) Boatfield of Dalonaga, Georgia, Evelyn (James) Gilliland and Lois (James) Worley both of Blue Ridge, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Patterson, a sister, Jewel Dale, and a brother, Walter Patterson.

Johnnie's family will greet friends from 2- 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main Street, Mount Gilead. Services celebrating his life will be held there at 11:00 a.m. on Monday with Rev. David M. DiPietro officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
