Thomas J. Allen was born
April 11th, 1848, in Worth
County, Mo., and departed this
life at his home in Siloam, Mo.,
Nov. 19,1924. Age 76 years, 7
months, and 8 days. He was the
youngest son of Aaron and
Desdemonia Allen.
At the early age of 18 he was
converted at the Stormey school
house and later united with the
LoneStar Baptist church. He
was always faithful to his pro-
fession.
In the year of 1864 he enlisted
in the army and served his colors
as a faithful soldier. On Sept.
16, 1868, he was united in mar-
riage to Mahala Jones at Oak
Grove in Worth County. To
this union 10 children were born.
Three preceded him to the great
Beyond. Namely, Olive B.
Rookstool, Cora Wilson and
William T., infant. Those liv-
ing to mourn his going are Sar-
ah J. Snead, Lydia V. Snead,
Aaron Allen, Maggie Noble,
Arthur Allen. Harley Allen, and
Virgil Allen. Besides his widow
he leaves 36 grandchildren, 20
great grandchildren, 2 half sis-
ters and 2 half brothers and a
host of relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen have resid-
ed their entire life in Worth and
Gentry County, with the excep-
tion of 2 years in New Mexico.
He was a kind and loving father
and kind neighbor and friend.
During his last hours he
realized fully the end was near
and spoke of the Lord and Mas-
ter. He sang, "I have some
friends in Glory I sometime
hope to see."
Being called upon to bear
much suffering he was patient
and uncomplaining and in it all
looked forward to the end.
"Though to Jordan's rolling waters
Cold and deep thou leadest me
Thou hast crossed its waves before me
And I still will follow thee."
The funeral was conducted at
The house by Rev. A. L. Groom.
Then was laid to rest in the
Koger Cemetery.
