Aaron Stephen Hucks, 94, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at Graybrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of the late Shirley Isabel (Nuss) Hucks.

Mr. Hucks was born on January 24, 1919 in Socastee, SC, a son of the late Stephen and Laura (Johnson) Hucks. He was a former employee of Murrows Trucking Company for over 25 years until his retirement.

He served his country during WWII from 1939 to 1941 in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Hucks was a life time member of Green Streep Baptist Church and a supporter of His Laboring Few Ministries

He was an avid golfer, carpenter, and an amazing landscaper. He also enjoyed music and playing the piano. He was an outgoing, friendly person who made friends anywhere he went.

Mr. Hucks is survived by three sons, Bob Hucks and his wife, Judy of High Point, Harold Hucks and his wife, Cynthia of Gainesville, GA, and Mark Hucks and his wife, Ann of Archdale; 8 grandchildren, Travis Hucks, Harley Hucks, Dean Hucks, Harold Hucks, Jr., Jason Hucks, Cray Hucks and his wife, Jamie, Laurie Bowman and her husband, Mitch,and Chris Hucks; three great grandchildren, Sam and Heather Hucks and Aaron Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-father, Oscar H. Doggett.

A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road, Archdale with Rev. Frank Hensley and Preacher Steve officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. A visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

A special thank you is sent from the family to all the staff and residence of Westchester Harbor and to the caring staff of Triad Adult Daycare Center, High Point.

The family will receive friends for a time of gathering with refreshments at the residence of Mark and Ann in Archdale following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to His Laboring Few Ministries, 812 Martin Luther King Dr., Thomasville, NC 27360.
