Parents: William James Daw & Flora Sophia "Case" Daw
Brother: Robert William Daw
Husbands: Ethel Herbert Fears (1880-1951) & George "Hap" Retz
Children: Robert William; Donald Norman(1910-1910); Kathryn Joycie & Ethel Elaine

Both Jeanetta and Ethel went to Valparaiso University Valparaiso, Indiana. Ethel got his Pharmacy degree and Jeanetta got her Teaching degree. Jeanetta married Ethel Herbert Fears (6-21-1908) and they lived in a number of places including a Fire Lookout Hornet Creek, ID; Nez Pierce Reservation working in a trading post; and Oroville, WA where Jeanetta worked as a cook in the Peerless hotel. They moved numberous times between Washington State, Idaho, California and Michigan before finally staying in Oroville, WA.

After being widowed she moved to Sacramento, CA to be near her eldest daughter. She met George Retz on a city bus, they struck up a friendship and later married Feb 19, 1956. The two bought some property in the country and raised rabbits for sale and grew their own vegetables until his untimely death in late 1960. He suffered a heart attack after being burned while burning trash.

An eternal optimist, at 83, she was briefly married to Edward V. Gabel (Nov 1970 in Reno and then divorced Apr 1971 in Sacramento). Proof we are never too old to take a chance...or make mistakes. :o)

Jeanetta was a devout member of Daughters of Rebekah. Later in life she lived in the Rebekah's retirement home in Saratoga, CA. Until her death, she received numerous cards and letters from the friends she made at the Sacramento lodge.

SPECIAL THANK YOU to Valarie Vine for adding Grandma Retz to FindAGrave. We have been looking for her & Hap for years. And SPECIAL THANK YOU to Ruth Ellen Bartels for giving me the heads-up about Valarie's entry.
