Edna Amelda Franklin a fifty eight year resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013.

Amelda was the youngest of nine children born to Nannie May Fox Spikes and William Lafayatte Spikes on February 28, 1926 in Kingston, OK.

Amelda married Sol Franklin Jr. in 1947 after his service in World War II. Amelda is a graduate of the University of Texas and spent her career as a first grade school teacher. Amelda was an avid bridge player and Docent with the Museum of Albuquerque and loving wife and mother. Amelda is survived by her children, Susan Maxberry of Lawton, OK, April Price of Albuquerque, NM and Tod Franklin of Dallas, TX, sisters-in-law, Joanna Dodge of El Paso, TX and Ann Franklin of Carrolton, TX, grandchildren, Christopher Rockhold of Lawton, OK, Ethan Price of Hawaii, Ryan Price of Albuquerque, NM, Kameron and Logan Franklin of Dallas, TX, daughter-in-law, Karen Tepera Franklin of Dallas, TX and many nieces and nephews.

Amelda will be deeply missed by her family.

A Graveside service to be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11:15 a.m. at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM.

Amelda suffered in her later years from Alzheimer's disease and donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 9500 Montgomery Blvd NE #121 Albuquerque, NM 87111 are deeply appreciated in lieu of flowers and gifts.
