THOMAS M. HUGHES (Age 47)
On April 29, 2013 following a brief battle with cancer. A resident of Virginia since 1996, Tom lived in Alexandria with his wife and two children. He began his career at the Federal Trade Commission and most recently was a partner at Thompson Hine LLP, after practicing at Hunton & Williams LLP from 1998-2011. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed cycling, fishing, camping, and kayaking with family and friends. His incredible sense of humor and loyalty to his family and friends will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife and children; parents, brother, sister, his grandmother, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 3815 Russell Road, Alexandria, 22305 with interment to follow at Ivy Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Capital Caring (www.capitalcaring.org) and The Board of Lady Managers of Inova Alexandria Hospital, P.O. Box 16453, Alexandria VA 22302.
