Dennis Leo Jirous, from Caledonia, MI, age 69, passed away serenely with his loving family near him on Monday, April 29, 2013.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Esther Jirous and, sister, Mary Schumacher.

Linda, his bride of 38 years, is missing his presence. His devoted children are Brian and Liz Jirous, Jamie and Peter Knight. His special blessings are his granddaughters, Jessica, Shannon, and Avery Jirous, Addy and Kenzee Knight; father-in-law, Calvin and Joyce Whitbeck; brothers, Tom and Rose Jirous, Joe and Mary Kay Jirous, Fred Jirous and Sandy Geisert; brothers-in-law, Bob Schumacher, Bob and Debbie Whitbeck, Bill and Yavonne Whitbeck; sisters-in-law, Margie Jirous, Bobbie Whitbeck and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Denny graduated in 1962 from Catholic Central.

He was in the Army for three years, stationed in Germany. Graduating from Ferris State University with a degree in marketing gave him the background for a successful business career. After he retired in 2003 from Amerisource Bergen, he began an entrepreneur career of Lin-Den Service Group, which served independent pharmacies.

His devotion to God and his Catholic faith is his greatest legacy. He lived his life with God first, family second, then work. Being a witness to the Lord was how he lived each day. He was a man of faith and did not get swayed by things of the world.

Denny fought a courageous battle of cancer for 13 years. His faith was always strong through the many health challenges he endured. Pride in his Irish heritage was shown in his dedication to Notre Dame. He is to be buried in a Notre Dame shirt. He was the true Irish Warrior. He was a devoted Tiger fan and could recount statistics of the current players and from games past. The Whitecaps baseball team was another joy in his life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. The family will meet relatives and friends Thursday at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming with a Rosary at 8pm. Memorial donations may be made to the St. John Vianney Foundation or Right to Life of Grand Rapids.
